Not so obvious locks of the week’ are my wildcard players who aren’t ranked in the top 10 this week, but have the upside to finish there. Here are my NSOL’s for Week 2
This week, Mayfield takes on the Chicago Bears, a team that helped Jordan Love finish as a top 3 QB in fantasy points in Week 1. Baker played well himself in Week 1, finding his groove vs the Vikings. A weak Chicago defense gives him top 10 upside in week 2.
Every week Baker has an elite duo at WR in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Love or hate him, Mayfield gives it his all week-in and week-out and is a dawg on the field every Sunday.
Williams is holding down the Saints backfield while Alvin Kamara is suspended. While last week was a tough matchup, he faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Williams is facing a defense that allowed the Atlanta Falcons to have two RBs finish inside the top 10 in scoring at the position, with two TDs on the ground and one through the air.
Williams doesn’t have much competition for the workload while Kamara is out, so this could be a multiple TD day for Williams, who had 6 games with two or more TDs last season with Detroit .
Collins quietly finished inside the top 25 Wide Receivers in Week 1, posting a stat line of 11 targets, 6 receptions, and 80 yards receiving. CJ Stroud and Collins need to improve on converting more of those targets, and a match up against the Colts this week may be exactly what they need to make that happen.
Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones both ate in week 1 vs the Colts secondary, so there’s no doubt the Texans will look to exploit those same weaknesses in the Colts defense. I’m a big fan of what CJ Stroud and Nico Collins can accomplish together.
Musgrave flashed what he and QB Jordan Love are capable of doing in Week 1. Although all the plays didn’t come together like they wanted them to, Love and Musgrave proved that the work they put in this offseason is paying off.
Love is going to rely on his group of young talented playmakers, not only Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, but TE Luke Musgrave as well. Last week, Panthers TE Hayden Hurst finished #2 at TE in points scored, and this week Musgrave is going up against that same defense. Look for the Packers and Love to get the same production or more out of Musgrave vs the Falcons.
