Two-start pitchers can make all the difference in your points leagues. In Weekly Best Ball drafts, these guys, while not as flashy as the top-of-the-draft guys, can get you more points on the whole and squeak out a win.
These aren’t the sexiest names or the juiciest matchups, but scared money don’t make money. If you’ve got a spot or two on your bench to continually turn over or you’re punting one-start studs in weekly drafts and going for bats first, this list should help. Let’s dive in.
Week 2 Two-Start Pitchers
Zac Gallen – Diamondbacks
Opponents: @ Rockies, v Cardinals
It’s not often I’d recommend starting a pitcher going into Coors Field, but the Rockies are just weak enough that I’m okay throwing Gallen out there. When he gets back home late in the week against the struggling Cardinals, you’ve got a juicy matchup waiting for you.
Zack Eflin – Rays
Opponents: @ Angels, v Giants
The Angels are pretty bad right now and you should target them for your DFS pitching. The Giants are a good team on paper, but they are beatable. Eflin has looked great so far, and the Rays are great at optimizing pitching. Go with confidence.
Reese Olsen – Tigers
Opponents: @ Pirates, v Twins
The Tigers have been really good so far. These aren’t great matchups, but Olsen can wear a lot of innings for this team. They’ll need him against a surprise Pirates team and a competitive Twins lineup
Frankie Montas & Graham Ashcraft – Reds
Opponents: v Brewers, @ White Sox
Risky against the Brew Crew, but the White Sox lineup is so depleted that I’m willing to risk the bad game up front for a bounce back at the end of the week. Montas isn’t a flashy name, but he’s a good SP3 for your Weekly drafts. Ashcraft is a much better points league option for your weekly drafts, and could provide a sneaky Challenges play.
